Danger Awareness (Self Defense Planning & Awareness Techniques)

Posted by Mandy Travis on

Danger Awareness involves paying attention to your surroundings and the people you share space with.

The improper use our Technology Devices costs people their lives, daily.  How, being preoccupied with our  "tech toys" is dramatically putting a "target" on our forehead, for criminal attacks.People have fallen down stair cases, walked into telephone or light poles, walked into the path of cars and trains, been hit by bicycle riders, walked into the path of other people and stepped into uncovered "man-holes."

Our number one self defense tool is our BRAIN. Unfortunately, many people for whatever reason, fail to recognize and then utilize the power of their brain.

If you are not prepared now to protect you and your family, you are flirting with danger. It makes, sense to know how best to respond to dangerous people, who wish to do you harm.

IS YOUR AWARENESS MISSING?

Not paying attention to your surroundings and the people around you can get you dead. Your protection requires that you pay attention to your actions and the actions of the people around you.

Seeing an attack (formulating) coming will help prepare you take appropriate action.

Do you find yourself walking into people?
Did you see your best friend just walk past you?
When was the last time you were surprised by people, who were in front or directly behind you?
Do you know where you parked at the mall or hospital?
A companion asked you; “Did you see that?”
Do you have to be paged at the mall by your mate or friends?
Do you know where to find the restroom?
Did you see the car that almost “T” boned you, when they entered the intersection on a red light?
What color shirts are your family members wearing today?
A close friend has standing six feet to your right, did you see them?

Just as it is prudent to wear a seat belt while driving, it makes sense, to know how best to respond to violence.” Family emergency drills need to be scheduled and implemented. Clear cut objectives need to be defined before the drills are conducted. After the drill, the family needs to go over the results to see if the objects were met.

An honest and accurate evaluation of each participant performance needs to be addressed by the whole family. Constructive corrections need to be formulated and practiced immediately, so that properly learning can take place.

It is important that you understand in your mind and heart that when someone attempts to harm you, “it is for keeps.” They don’t want you to be able to tell anyone that they attacked you.

When was the last time you watched a baby learning to walk? A large number of basic motor movements have to coincide and be mastered, when learning to sit up, stand, walk, run, walk up stairs or ride a bicycle, etc.

Pain Self-Defense

Effective Self-Defense requires you to create pain for the attacker! The motor movements you learned before age three years of age can be transferred into effective self defense moves.

Predators don't target individuals larger and stronger than they are. Criminals, prey on those that are weaker than them. Also, such “bullies” do not want to be caught. Simple basic self-defense moves such as kicking, scratching, and shouting are used to extricate yourself.

“Pain” must be inflicted on the attacker, to convince him to leave you alone. A “mule kick” to the lower leg or stomp of the top of the foot along with a punch to the groin, is very painful. Severe scratching of the back of the hands causes great pain. If you can gouge your thumbs into the attacker's eyes, jab your knuckles into their, you most certainly will cause them pain?

Pepper Spray

The Streetwise 3 oz. 18 Pepper Spray has a very unique safety mechanism. The top flips up and with a push of your finger the spray is released. This safety lock makes it impossible for the pepper spray to go off anywhere you store it.

Pepper Spray has strong inflammatory characteristics which will immediately cause the attacker great discomfort. Pepper spray is a concentrate oil and resin from peppers. A concerted exposure to this inflammatory “pepper spray” will immediately induce coughing, choking, nausea, and dilation of the capillaries of the eyes.

The attacker will experience a temporary blindness and the mucous membranes will swell to the point the person will be in great distress. The attacker would most certainly be temporarily unable to function.

Target Focus Training (TFT) is taught by the 2011 Self-Defense Instructor of the Year, Tim Larkin. Mr. Larkin penned “How to Survive The Most Critical 5 Seconds Of Your Life.”

"It’s the only program in existence that covers the entire self-protection spectrum, from awareness/avoidance to instinctively responding to unexpected life-or-death violence… including, knowing how to kill your attacker if that’s what it takes to save your own life."

TRUE SELF DEFENSE IS A MORAL RIGHT

Ladies, you have a moral right to fight back. In most rapes, submission is a “red light” for the rapist to do with you as he pleases, including, killing you. Controlling you both emotionally and physically is a criminal's motive.

“The more control you give the violent criminal, even if you see it as temporary, the less likely you are to escape. Your cooperation gives the rapist/criminal more time to do with you as he pleases. The longer you take to fight for your life, the deeper, you'll sink into your grave.

“True self-defense is based not on techniques but on principles.” Self preservation requires wiring your mind - to act with explosiveness once your "line of civility” has been crossed. Mental preparedness involves advanced planning of the brain and body, to keep you safe.

It is more productive to “habitually” know how to use a small number of skills, instinctively. Practicing regularly, your chosen set of self-defense skills, is vital to defeating a determined attacker.

Conclusion:

Avoid getting into altercations by using your brain power. Put a physical distance between you and your "challenger." However, do not turn your back to any challenger. You need to judge relatively quickly whether it is worth it, to talk out your differences, or back away. You don't want to give the challenger attention. Let the challenger "be right" in their eyes. You don't want the following statement written on your tombstone; "Being dead right is too costly."
